Confident Choices, Confident Finances

This program exists to help teenage girls connect the dots between self-confidence, financial decision-making, and community leadership. At Girl Life Unlimited, we believe that when a young woman knows her worth, she’s more likely to make wise choices—not only in her finances but in every area of her life. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and a meaningful community service project, participants will build skills that prepare them for adulthood while also making a positive impact on their communities.

Outcomes and Who It Serves

Who It Serves: Girls ages 14–19 from underserved or under-resourced communities, with a focus on those who may have limited access to financial education and leadership opportunities.

Expected Outcomes:

By the end of the program, participants will:

  • Strengthen their self-confidence and decision-making skills

  • Develop practical financial literacy skills including budgeting, saving, and money management

  • Learn how self-worth impacts spending and saving behaviors

  • Gain leadership and teamwork experience through planning and executing a community service project

  • Understand the value of giving back and how service connects to personal and financial growth

Duration and Schedule

  • Total Length: 8 weeks

  • Format: In-person

  • Schedule: One session per week, 1.5–2 hours eachowth

Weekly Outline

Weeks 1–2: Building the Foundation of Self-Confidence

  • Week 1: Knowing Your Worth – Personal strengths, self-image, and goal setting

  • Week 2: Confidence in Action – Practicing boundary-setting, decision-making, and self-advocacy

Weeks 3–4: Money Mindset
& Management

  • Week 3: Money Mindset – How beliefs about money affect behavior; overcoming fear and scarcity thinking

  • Week 4: Budgeting with Confidence – Needs vs. wants, building a personal budget, role-play money choices


Weeks 5–6: Earning, Saving & Service Project Planning

  • Week 5: Earning & Saving – Exploring income streams, savings strategies, and setting financial goals

  • Week 6: Service Project Planning – Choosing the project, assigning roles, creating a project budget and timeline

Weeks 7–8: Leadership in Action
& Reflection

  • Week 7: Executing the Project – Carrying out the plan, tracking spending, leading as a team

  • Week 8: Reflection & Celebration – Presenting results, reviewing lessons learned, and celebrating accomplishments

Materials Provided and Participant Requirements

Materials Provided by GLU:

  • Program workbook and worksheets

  • Pens, folders, and journals

  • Budgeting templates and calculators (as needed)

  • All materials for the community service project

Participant Requirements:

  • Commitment to attend at least 6 of the 8 sessions

  • Participation in the community service project

  • Positive and respectful engagement with peers and mentors

Enrollment Steps and Eligibility

Eligibility:

  • Girls ages 14–19

  • Reside in [Insert Community/Region]

  • Interest in developing leadership, confidence, and money management skills

Enrollment Process:

  • Complete the online or paper registration form

  • Parent/guardian consent required for participants under 18

  • Confirm participation via welcome email from GLU

She’s Next: College, Career & Confidence Accelerator is a 3 month hands-on mentorship and development program for girls ages 14–19 who need more than just motivation—they need direction, access, and real-world tools to thrive.

Through our 2-part program, girls gain career exposure and personal development. Whether she’s unsure of what’s next or already dreaming big, we help her get there—with structure, support, and a sisterhood that holds her accountable.

We walk alongside girls as they:

  • Explore career paths with real women in business, trades, STEM, and entrepreneurship

  • Learn how to apply to college, build a resume, pitch ideas, and secure scholarships

  • Build self-esteem, financial skills, and leadership tools that last a lifetime

  • Understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion—in the classroom, in the workplace, and in the world

  • Learn how to advocate for themselves and others, embrace cultural awareness, and lead with empathy in the workplace

This program is built for girls who may not have the resources—but who absolutely have the potential.

She’s Next Cohort, is a free, 3-month, hands-on mentorship and development program for girls ages 14–19 who need more than motivation—they need direction, access, and real-world tools to thrive. Designed especially for girls from low-income backgrounds or under-resourced communities, this program builds confidence, career readiness, and leadership skills through structured and hands-on mentorship.

Outcomes & Who It Serves
Participants will:

  • Explore career paths with real women in business, trades, STEM, and entrepreneurship.

  • Learn to apply for college, write resumes, pitch ideas, and secure scholarships.

  • Gain financial skills, leadership development, and cultural awareness

Target AUDIENCE:
Girls ages 14–19 from low-income or underserved backgrounds who have potential but lack access to the tools, networks, and guidance needed to succeed after high school.

Duration and Schedule

  • Length: 3 months

  • Format: In-person sessions (Birmingham-area), with some hybrid/virtual opportunities.

  • Schedule: Weekly sessions (2–3 hours each), plus 1–2 special events or travel days per module.

Month 1 – Career Track

  • Career Spotlights with female professionals and entrepreneurs.

  • Salary research, industry challenges/benefits, state-by-state opportunities.

Month 2 – Intake & Preparation

  • College/trade school application process, financial aid, STEM/trades exploration.

  • Advantages/disadvantages of different educational and career paths.

Month 3 – Trades, Certifications & Launch

  • Resume writing, interview prep, entrepreneurship/business planning.

  • Final pitch presentations & scholarship awards.

Materials Provided

  • Program workbook, binders, and supplies for all activities.

  • Scholarship opportunities for juniors and seniors upon program completion.

Participant Requirements:

  • Attend at least 75% of all sessions.

  • Complete assigned projects and presentations.

  • Sign student & parent commitment agreement before starting.

Enrollment & Eligibility

  • Open Enrollment: January of each year.

  • Start Date: May.

  • Steps: Submit application → Parent/student interview → Commitment agreement signed.

  • Must meet age requirements and demonstrate need for program support.

  • No cost to participants — the program is fully funded through sponsorships, partnerships, and donations.
